Supplementary Service Charges

We provide a wide range of services to all faculties and departments in Toronto Metropolitan University-owned buildings and spaces. Most of our services are free of charge, but we also offer supplementary custodial or maintenance services that are chargeable (key cutting and office painting, for example).  These are paid for by the requesting faculty or department using a chargeback form, which is used between faculties and departments at TMU to recover costs associated with internal product or service transactions.

Requesting supplementary services

All supplementary services are subject to the availability of staff and at the discretion of the department manager. To inquire about supplementary services, please contact the Facilities Help Desk to arrange a meeting where we will discuss your requirements and provide you with a quote.

Supplementary service costs

Supplementary services are charged per hour. These charges represent wages as established through Collective Agreements, as well as overhead costs incurred by Facilities Management and Development, inclusive of  supplies, standard tools, and the cost of supervisory oversight if required.

Please note that maintenance tasks may have additional charges for parts or materials required.

• Hourly chargeable rates are calculated by the rate of pay plus an additional 30 percent to cover the full burden to the department. 
• We calculate to the nearest hour.
• Services provided outside normally defined shifts or on an emergency basis are subject to overtime rates.
• We make an effort to notify you in advance if your request requires emergency overtime service.
