Health and Safety for Leaders eLearning

This is required eLearning for all leaders. Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), all supervisors are required to complete health and safety competency training within one week of their hire.  The OHSA defines supervisors are those who have:

  • charge of a workplace, or
  • authority over a worker

What is the eLearning module about?

Health and Safety for Leaders covers the following topics:

  • the definition and importance of the leader role,
  • the structure and function of the Internal Responsibility System,
  • how to perform university health and safety processes,
  • how to apply the Prevention Philosophy and 13 Factors of Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace in your role as a health, safety and wellbeing leader, and
  • where to find additional tools and resources for support.

Who is required to complete the training?

Leaders are required to complete under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.

While you may have completed other supervisory health and safety training, this program reflects current regulatory requirements as well as our EHS policy.  We are asking that all leaders complete this course within three months.
