How to get a locker on campus

Lockers are administered by some program departments for their students. They are typically allocated at the start of the Fall Term by assignment or a sign-up process that is first come, first served. Contact your program administration or consult your academic program’s Student Guide for details on locker assignments or reservation processes.

Lockers are not assigned by Facilities Management and Development.

Locker contents are the responsibility of the user. The university does not take responsibility for any lost or stolen items.

Lock removal process

If you have been assigned a locker in the fall term and find that it already has a lock on it, Facilities Management and Development can help with the authorized removal of that lock and any locker contents. This service is only available until the third Friday in September, at which point lockers are considered unassigned.

We can also help with the removal of your own lock if you have an assigned locker and forgot your combination, or the lock is damaged and you’re unable to remove it. This service is available throughout the year.

Authorization for lock removal

It is your school or department’s responsibility to authorize the removal of locks or locker contents. In order to have a lock removed from a locker, you must obtain a letter of authorization (hard copy is the only acceptable format) from your school or department that includes:

  • your name;
  • your student number; and
  • the locker number (even if your school or department didn’t assign the locker).

If your school or department will not provide a letter, one can be obtained from Student Services using the same criteria.

Bring the letter from the department who assigned you the locker and a new, open lock with you to the custodial office in POD-B-85. This office is staffed from Monday to Friday, and typically accepts lock removal requests at the following times:

  • 10 a.m.
  • 12:30 p.m.
  • 2:30 p.m.

By the end of the day, a custodial staff member will remove the lock and replace it with the new one. If applicable, any contents not belonging to you will be removed.
