Planned overnight power shutdown in IMA, IMC and VIC October 6
As communicated on September 3 (external link) , following the severe weather event on September 2, Facilities Management and Development (“Facilities”) is continuing work to complete necessary repairs to the School of Image Arts (IMA), The Image Centre (IMC), the Victoria Building (VIC) and the Chang School of Continuing Education-Heaslip House (CED).
To facilitate the work, contractors are scheduling a complete overnight power shutdown of IMA, IMC and VIC from 10 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6 to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7.
How this may impact you
During the shutdown, contractors will remove the temporary rental generators outside of IMA and VIC to reconnect the buildings to the City of Toronto power supply and repair damage to the electrical system.
Emergency generators will continue to provide power to critical equipment, emergency lighting and life safety systems.
Lighting and electrical equipment will not function unless connected to the emergency back-up power system. The outage has been scheduled outside of the building’s operational hours to minimize the impact on occupants.
For public safety, only authorized personnel will be able to access IMA, IMC and VIC from 10 p.m. on October 6 to 6 a.m. on October 7. Prior to the outage, TMU Security staff will begin circulating through the buildings at 9:30 p.m. on October 6 and instruct any remaining occupants to vacate the buildings. TMU Security staff will remain onsite in case emergency access is required.
