ENG unplanned hot water outage

September 24, 2026

Hot water is temporarily out of service on all floors of the George Vari Engineering and Computing Centre (ENG) due to a mechanical failure.

This is an unplanned outage. Facilities Management and Development is currently working to address the issue. Please check the outage alert on the service alerts feed for updates as an estimated return-to-service date will be posted as it becomes available.

How this may impact you

There will be no hot water in ENG during the outage. Cold water in washrooms, fountains, sinks and other plumbing are not affected and will continue to function normally.

During the water outage, hot water is available in neighbouring buildings, such as the Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex (DCC) and the Rogers Communications Centre (RCC).

Steam for heat remains in service.

Once hot water service is restored, there may be intermittent fluctuations in pressure and flow rate as the system stabilizes and some brief discolouration of water caused by mineral deposits.

The fire suppression system (sprinklers) are not affected by this outage.
