CED closure to continue until Oct. 2

As a follow up to our message on September 4, the Heaslip House and The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education (CED) continue to be closed as a result of power outages caused by the severe weather on Wednesday, September 2. 

Repairs are still underway and we anticipate that CED will remain closed until October 2. While we are optimistic that it will be able to reopen at that time, we will provide a further update closer to that date. 

When the building reopens, we will issue an all clear. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. 

Support available to relocate on-campus activities 

Facilities Management and Development is available to identify alternative spaces on campus that can be used for employees / activities that must continue in-person. Please reach out to Heather Hardcastle, manager, space planning at hhardcastle@torontomu.ca.

Please include the activity, the number of participants and any specific needs (for example, technical set up) to help us assist with relocation.

More information on repair progress and timelines 

During the storm, there was flooding in the basement of the Victoria Building, as well as damage to electrical infrastructure within the building and connecting to CED, IMA and IMC. While we continue to work diligently to carry out repairs, we have had to allow time for facilities and equipment to dry to fully assess the issue and safely complete all repairs, as well as for our external partners to attend and complete work we cannot complete internally. 

Given the impact to academic activities, we are continuing to power IMA, IMC and VIC via generator while the repairs are completed. While we have worked to implement noise mitigation strategies caused by the generators, we appreciate our community’s understanding during this time.
