PIT and RCC planned power shutdown the morning of Tuesday, June 9

June 04, 2026

The City of Toronto and Toronto Hydro are coordinating a brief, temporary power shutdown of Pitman Hall (PIT) and the Rogers Communications Centre (RCC) to perform a critical municipal electrical installation.

As a result, PIT and RCC will be temporarily without power for 30-60 minutes between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9.

How this may impact you

For public safety, only authorized personnel will be able to access PIT and the RCC throughout the power shutdown. Prior to the outage, TMU Security staff will circulate and instruct any remaining occupants to vacate the building. TMU Security staff will remain onsite in case emergency access is required.

Emergency generators will continue to provide power to critical equipment, emergency lighting and life safety systems.
