ENG planned power outage the morning of May 11, 2026

Facilities Management and Development (“Facilities”) is overseeing improvements to heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) in the ENG-249 IT room on the second floor of the George Vari Engineering and Computing Centre (ENG). 

To support the work, contractors are scheduling a power shutdown on the second floor of ENG on May 11, 2026 from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. to install new equipment.

How this may impact you

During the power shutdown, the second floor of ENG will be temporarily without power, impacting lighting and resulting in possible temperature fluctuations on the floor. The outage will also impact network connectivity on the second, first and ground floors of ENG, with network services like telephones, computer networks and WiFi unavailable during the shutdown. 

For public safety, only authorized personnel will be able to access the second floor of ENG from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. on May 11. Prior to the outage, TMU Security staff will circulate and instruct any remaining occupants to vacate the second floor of the building. TMU Security staff will remain onsite in case emergency access is required.
