Updated: BND access restrictions June 10-11 for scaffolding installation

June 08, 2026

As previously communicated, TMU is set to open a new 21-storey student residence on Bond Street and Dundas Street East that is targeted for completion in 2030. Beginning June 10, Cedar Podium (CP) will be erecting scaffolding and overhead protection along the south side of 112 Bond Street (BND) that will temporarily impact building access.

To complete the work, there will be temporary access restrictions to the front and rear entrances of BND from Wednesday, June 10 to Friday, June 12.

How this may impact you

For public safety, access to the front and rear entrances of BND will be temporarily restricted as protective scaffolding and overhead protection is erected around the south side of the building.

Access to the front and rear entrances of BND on Bond Street will be restricted between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Wednesday, June 10 to Friday, June 12. However, access to the building will be maintained as only one entrance will be temporarily restricted at a time.

During the work, building occupants may experience intermittent noise disruptions. The construction crew will make every effort to minimize the negative impact of their work.

Dundas St. and Bond St. construction fencing and upcoming demolition May 4

As previously communicated (external link) , TMU is set to open a new 21-storey student residence on Bond Street and Dundas Street East that is targeted for completion in 2030. Beginning May 4, 2026, Cedar Podium (CP) is undertaking demolition and excavation for construction of the new residence.

How this may impact you

To support construction, CP has erected gates to temporarily restrict access to a portion of Victoria Street Lane behind the Victoria Street Building (VIC) and 277 Victoria Street (VCT), as well as a portion of the west Bond Street sidewalk next to the site.

Demolition and excavation of the site will begin at Victoria Street Laneway and Dundas Street East and progress towards Bond Street by mid-June. Parking behind the Chang School of Continuing Education (CED) at 297 Victoria Street will be unavailable while gates are in place. Additionally, occupants of buildings in areas closest to the work may experience increased noise, dust and vibrations.
