PIT fire alarm activations during improvement project Apr. 27 - May 29

April 17, 2026

Facilities Management and Development (“Facilities”) is improving the audible systems of the fire alarms in Pitman Hall (PIT). Contractors will be making adjustments to the volume levels of the alarms to meet new compliance standards.

To facilitate the work, the audible alarms systems will be intermittently activated between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., from Monday, April 27 to Friday, May 29, and may include some weekends.

How this may impact you

The fire safety system’s audible alarms and emergency strobes will be activated for brief periods one floor at a time for the first three weeks of the project as the improvements are implemented floor by floor. The short audible testing periods will be accompanied by an announcement over the speaker system that will advise it’s a test.

The activations will become more frequent during the final week of the project when alarms are tested everyday and will be activated daily in various locations.

The work has been scheduled to take place after the April 25, 2026 move-out deadline to prevent impacts to residents.
