Monthly fire-alarm testing schedule for Dec. 2025 – Dec. 2026
Alarms will not activate in buildings where exams are taking place until after the exams are complete for the evening.
Monthly fire alarm testing takes place year round in all TMU-owned, non-residential buildings, plus the Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex (DCC). These routine tests are part of the mandatory inspections of life-safety systems that help to ensure system reliability to protect our community and property.
The testing is conducted after each building’s regular operational hours to minimize the disruption to the TMU community, but if you are in a building after hours during its monthly test, you may hear the alarms sound briefly. Evacuation is not required for the test.
The next tests will take place from Monday, December 8 to Friday, December 12, 2025 between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. In buildings with evening classes, testing will not begin until after 10 p.m.
Subsequent tests will be conducted every second week of each month per the schedule below.

How this may impact you
During the tests, the audible signals (alarm bells or speakers), visual signals (flashing emergency strobes) and recorded voice messages are activated for brief periods intermittently overnight.
If you are aware of activities taking place in impacted buildings during the after-hours testing periods, please advise impacted individuals of the expected noise disruption.
