DCC podium occupancy now scheduled for January 2019
Ryerson University’s Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex (DCC), located at the corner of Church and Dundas, was scheduled to have a phased opening starting in September 2018 with the academic and administrative podium. After receiving new direction from the City of Toronto on requirements for the phased approach, occupancy of the podium is now scheduled for January 2019.
“We share the community’s excitement and anticipation for this incredible new building and we also share and understand the disappointment that must be felt by all of those who are impacted by this unforeseen delay,” said Deborah Brown, vice-president, administration and operations.
Working to minimize disruptions
Facilities Management and Development is working closely with the Registrar’s Office to determine locations for scheduled classes, labs and new office spaces that were set to open in September.
“Our team will be working diligently to ensure everyone on campus is supported and that disruptions are minimized as much as possible,” said Saher Fazilat, assistant vice-president, facilities management and development. “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and will do everything possible to ensure a smooth transition for the second semester.”
Faculty and staff with research and work spaces in Ryerson-owned buildings (such as Kerr Hall and the Podium building) will remain in their current locations until the DCC is ready for occupancy.
For those in leased spaces such as 415 Yonge, arrangements have been made to extend the leases until the DCC is ready.
