ISS Pre-Orientation

Get ahead of the game with the ISS Pre-Orientation Program! Set yourself up for success by completing the online modules and participating in Virtual Smart Start Meet-ups.

There are four (4) Online Modules in the ISS Pre-Orientation Program. The modules will introduce you to Toronto Metropolitan University, our values, services and supports.  You can go through the modules at your own pace, as you prepare to begin the fall semester. Virtual Smart Start Meet-Ups

Virtual Smart Start Meet-ups are an opportunity to meet fellow international students, connect with ISS staff and ask your burning questions on your #RoadtoTMU! They will be held on the following dates (click on each session to register):

12:00PM - 2:00 PM Life in Canada POD 372 Are you an international student moving to Canada for the first time? Looking for guidance about life in downtown Toronto and studying at Toronto Met? Join us in this session where we'll navigate through your new Life in Canada! From transit to accommodation, local customs and more, our panel of upper-year international students are here to answer all your questions. With no professors or faculty involved, it's a safe space for open discussion. Get ready to meet peers, ask questions, and learn tips to ace university life in the city. Don't miss out on this opportunity to prepare for your new adventure!
2:30 PM -4:30 PM City Immersion Tour Meet at SLC First Floor

As a warm welcome to the city of Toronto, we will take you on a guided tour to some of the city's biggest tourist spots. While we're there, you will also get a view of the city's vibrant financial district and the iconic CN Tower! With this tour, we hope you get a feel of being a tourist in the city before you embrace your new life as a student!
Wednesday, September 2, 2026 12PM - 2PM International student mixer : Punch Cards & Connection PIT 200 Connect with fellow international students while creating personalized punch cards filled with goals, experiences, and adventures you hope to accomplish during your time at TMU.
Thursday, September 3, 2026 12PM - 3PM Annual Welcome Party DCC ROOFTOP It's almost the end of the week and you have spent a lot of time taking information in and preparing for your classes. Before we send you off to begin your new semester, we'd like you to join us in our Annual Welcome Party! get ready for some music, decor, and dance! Start your school year right with fun, food, and games
Friday, September 4, 2026 11AM - 12PM Indigenous Art Tour 4-5 Art Stops Discover the rich history and stories behind the Indigenous artwork displayed across our campus! Join us for a guided Indigenous Art Tour, where you’ll explore significant art pieces and learn about the cultures, traditions, and histories they represent. This is a meaningful opportunity to deepen your understanding of Indigenous perspectives and connect with the land and its original caretakers through art and storytelling. We will end the tour off by trying Indigenous foods!
