Request to make site public

A minimum of TWO business days is required to prepare and schedule your site publication. No exceptions. If you require a publication review or redirects, more time will be required.

A website publication, or release, is the process of moving and publishing your development website (dev.torontomu.ca/site-name) to the production environment (www.torontomu.ca/site-name).

 Once your site has been moved to production, your development site will be immediately deactivated and deleted after two weeks without notification.

If your site has been redesigned and reorganized, resulting in moved or renamed pages, you can request redirects for frequently visited pages. Submit your redirect request to be implemented after your new site is published.

If you bundle your site release with redirects, please submit both requests five days in advance.

A publication review ensures that websites adhere to TMU's web standards and guidelines.  Digital Publishing (DP) will review your site for potential design or usability issues. Feedback will be provided in the form of recommendations and/or required changes.

Publication review timeline:

  1. Author submits request to make site public > chooses publication review option
  2. DP reviews website within two to three business days
  3. DP provides feedback to client
  4. Client makes required modifications in one to two days
  5. Client notifies DP
  6. Site publish is scheduled > redirects are implemented, if requested

If you bundle your site release with redirects and a publication review, we recommend submitting all requests a minimum of five days in advance.

When a site publication is requested, an accessibility review is conducted by the IT Accessibility Specialist to ensure your website is accessible and complies with mandatory guidelines required by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA (external link) ). If issues are found, feedback will be provided within two weeks in the form of recommendations and/or mandatory changes.

The accessibility review will not impact the scheduled release of your website unless there are significant issues. Otherwise, changes can be made once the site is activated. It is ultimately the content authors responsibility to ensure all website content adheres to WCAG 2.0 Level AA by January 1, 2021. For guidance, please read our Accessibility & SEO section or contact the IT Accessibility Specialist.
