Dr. Seth Dworkin will continue his role as Academic Lead, Postdoctoral Fellows, YSGPS for another year.

YSGPS is pleased to announce that Dr. Seth Dworkin will continue his role as Academic Lead, Postdoctoral Fellows for another year.

As the inaugural Academic Lead, Postdoctoral Fellows, Dr. Dworkin works closely with the Vice-Provost and Dean and the YSGPS team to support and enhance postdocs' academic, professional and social experiences at TMU through events, workshops, training and community building.

Dr. Dworkin has helped foster community among postdocs, developed career readiness training and enhanced the overall postdoctoral experience at TMU. A major development is the creation of a new health and benefits plan for postdoctoral fellows.

“Postdocs are primary drivers of SRC who help mentor and train undergraduate and graduate researchers,” said Dr. Dworkin. “Expanding SRC happens in lockstep with growing postdoctoral scholarship, and is currently a primary focus of capacity building at TMU.”

TMU has been selected to host the Canadian Association of Postdoctoral Scholars Annual General Meeting (external link)  on Oct. 28, where postdocs from across Canada will gather to network and discuss their experiences and scholarship.

Other initiatives include the development of a postdoc website, directory and online community, a bi-annual postdoc appreciation luncheon and networking event, streamlining of supports and inter-faculty coordination, and providing opportunities through partnerships with community, national and international organizations.
