Joe Zboralski Teaching and Community Engagement Award Recipients

The Joe Zboralski Commemorative award recognizes a CUPE Unit 1 and/or CUPE Unit 2 member that has demonstrated leadership through teaching and impact on community engagement, internally or externally to Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). 

An award recipient will receive a certificate of recognition and a monetary award of $2,500 as a one-time payment (subject to applicable deductions).

Dr. Nagina Parmar exemplifies the Joe Zboralski Teaching and Community Engagement Award through her innovative teaching, compassionate mentorship, and transformative community leadership. As a dedicated faculty member in the Department of Chemistry and Biology for over two decades, she has championed experiential learning, CUPE advocacy, workplace equity and safety, and ethical research practices. Outside of academia, Dr. Parmar empowers women, supports international students, and advocates for literacy through various national organizations. Her initiatives have positively impacted thousands, fostering inclusion, leadership, and social change.
