Spiros Vavougios

Office of the General Counsel and Board Secretariat

It is an honour to nominate Spiros Vavougios for the Julia Hanigsberg Make Your Mark Staff Award for his contribution to exceptional Client Service. Spiros has redefined the term “over-and-above” for dedication, integrity and his care for the community. Community Safety and Security have relied on Spiros’s thoughtful legal guidance as we work on initiatives relative to recommendations made through the Anti-Black Racism Committee, including reviewing existing procedures and practices. As CSS continues building a community-centric approach, incorporating values of equity, diversity, inclusion, respect, and civility in interactions with our communities on campus, we wish to nominate Spiros Vavougios.

The Classroom Refresh Project’s team is being nominated for innovation as they oversaw much needed upgrades and modernization for 18 classrooms, lighting upgrades for 169 additional classrooms, an extensive furniture refresh, and the design of an active learning classroom. Each space had unique requirements and distinct challenges. The broad scope needed creative solutions for long-standing challenges. Global supply-chain delays were met with resourcefulness and strategic thinking. They used their expertise, creativity and thoughtful, ongoing consultation, and consideration of client input to breathe new life into outdated spaces and maximize their potential to support positive learning outcomes and exceptional student experience.
