Knowledge Mobilization and Engagement Award Recipients

The Knowledge Mobilization and Engagement Award is a university-wide annual award presented to one researcher, or a team of up to two researchers, who has demonstrated exceptional and outstanding achievement in communicating research beyond the University and/or significant impact in shaping evidence-based policy and practice. This award recognizes the ability of the researcher(s) to generate new ideas through engagement and collaborations with external organizations and/or communities, combining knowledge from different spheres of society to generate new ideas.

Award recipient(s) will receive a certificate of recognition and a monetary award of $2,000 (per award recipient) as a one-time payment (subject to applicable deductions).

2025 recipient

Anatoliy Gruzd

Ted Rogers School of Management

This nomination recognizes the scholarly and societal impact of the ground-breaking SSHRC-funded, "Learning Analytics for the Social Media Age" led by Anatoliy Gruzd. This initiative created a critical new body of knowledge that intersected multiple fields, including learning analytics, social media and information science. The new methods and analytical tools that were developed as a part of the work have since facilitated advanced research by scholars around the world, most notably in the areas of education, health and politics. The initiative also enhanced professional practice through training of 21 undergraduate, 39 graduate students, and 7 postdoctoral fellows.
