AVP International's Global Learning Award Recipients
The AVP International's Global Learning Award recognizes an individual or team (faculty or staff) who have made significant contributions to Global Learning at TMU. The recognized activity or leadership can take place either on campus or abroad.
Individual recipients receive a certificate and a one-time monetary award of $2,000 (subject to applicable deductions). Team recipients (a group of two to ten individuals) receive individual certificates and a total one-time monetary award of $3,000 (subject to applicable deductions) to be shared equally among members.

Team Unity Global Hackathon

Laurel Walzak and Sadia Kamran have enhanced The Creative School and TMU’s international reach through the Global Football University Hackathon, an initiative that fosters international partnerships and opportunities for student engagement. The sixth Global Football University Hackathon brings together 90 students from five continents to tackle real sport media challenges, with a panel of 20 experts from eight countries judging the final projects. Laurel’s international research in the UK and Europe enriches curriculum, while Sadia’s transnational leadership ensures access and scalability. Together, they combined academic vision and operational excellence to develop high-quality, academically relevant experiences that serve diverse student populations.
