Inclusive AI Adoption
Research, Case Studies and Workforce Skills Development Programs
Artificial intelligence (AI), from machine learning and automation to natural language processing and generative tools, is reshaping business operations and driving innovation. Yet despite Canada’s world-class research and talent, adoption remains uneven, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) facing financial, technical and human resource constraints.
Closing this gap requires more than technology. Businesses and workers need skills ranging from baseline literacy to applied adoption and advanced expertise. To support this, the Diversity Institute’s programs — ADaPT, Skills Bridge, and others — integrate AI into workforce development, creating pathways from foundational knowledge to confident, experienced use. Our research also highlights where Canada stands on adoption and what skills are needed to prepare entrepreneurs, SMEs and employees for an AI-enabled economy.
