The Diversity Institute's training and work placement is founded upon our key career assistance programs: ADaPT for Indigenous and Young Adults (external link) , Newcomer Employment and Entrepreneurship Skills Hub (external link) ADaPT For Black Youth (external link) MyStartr (external link)  Lifeline Challenge's Pathways To Employment (external link) Advanced Digital and Professional Training (ADaPT), ADaPT for BC Newcomers, and ADaPT4Success .

Together these services provide a network of support, workplace opportunity, and skill development that benefit and invest in your future.

Since 2014, the Diversity Institute’s (DI) Advanced Digital and Professional Training (ADaPT) program has been delivered with partners across Canada. ADaPT for Indigenous and Young Adults builds on this proven model by providing culturally relevant training on in-demand job skills and work placement opportunities. The program can be delivered in various formats, including self-paced or real-time learning models, allowing participants flexibility to meet their needs, familiarity with tools, and schedules.

TECHNATION and Red River College Polytech (RRCP), with consulting and evaluation support from DI, are scaling DI’s proven ADaPT model in Manitoba, a region where a large number of Indigenous Peoples reside. This project will allow TECHNATION, RRCP, and DI to understand the effectiveness of the ADaPT model to address unemployment rates in local communities, particularly among Indigenous People, Indigenous youth, and individuals living in rural, remote, and northern communities in Manitoba.

NEESH is a skills development and work placement program for newcomers that provides training in critical in-demand job skills and wraparound supports to help newcomers build their essential skills, improve their employment readiness, connect them to employers with opportunities to access paid work placement and entrepreneurship mentors. NEESH is led by Scadding Court Community Centre, in partnership with the Diversity Institute.

An initiative dedicated to supporting Black Youth in developing skills they need and securing work opportunities. The program is for Black youth in high school, college, university or recent graduates, aged 15 to 29 in the Greater Toronto Area, Thunder Bay, Windsor and Kingston.

The program is available online with self study, experienced industry instructors as well as all the supports you will need to succeed. Participants will also be eligible for employment and internship opportunities to apply their skills. ADaPT for Black Youth has concluded for the 2025-2026 year. Future updates to the program will be announced when available.

MyStartr connects young people who face barriers to employment with top-ranked employers in Canada — helping people secure meaningful jobs and opportunities to develop professional skills.

Supported by major employers, governments and community organizations, MyStartr creates paths to opportunity for people aged 15 to 30 — opening doors to career-launching jobs that help them reimagine their futures while contributing to Canada’s overall economic growth and prosperity.

Finding a job is an important part of making a new country home. The Lifeline Challenge platform Powered by Magnet helped connect Afghan and Ukrainian newcomers, of all backgrounds and levels of experience, to jobs.

The Advanced Digital and Professional Training Program (ADaPT) was an action-research project funded by the Future Skills Centre which equipped new graduates with the Skills for Success Canadian employers are seeking, along with a paid internship. By focusing on youth from diverse groups and social science and humanities graduates, ADaPT contributed to inclusive economic growth.

The ADaPT for BC Newcomers program ran from May 2024 to August 2025 and supported newcomers aged 19 years or older who are residents of British Columbia in building their essential skills, improving their employment readiness and helping to connect them to employers for paid work placements. The program provided BC newcomers with training, work placement and employment support, and career advancement opportunities. Training was focused on foundational, professional and digital skills and competencies. In addition, newcomers accessed wraparound supports to develop their job-seeking skills, including one-to-one career coaching, mock interview preparation, résumé review and support, and networking opportunities.

ADaPT4Success (A4S) built on the proven ADaPT model with increased focus on Skills for Success and focused on work-integrated learning opportunities while training participants in critical in-demand job skills in three core areas: Skills for Success; Digital Skills; and Job Search Skills.
