Counsellor Award Recipients

The Counsellor Award recognizes demonstrated excellence in professional service to the Centre for Student Development and Counselling, the university or the community.

Award recipient(s) will receive a certificate of recognition and a monetary award of $2,000 as a one-time payment (subject to applicable deductions).

Jean Yu-Ching Tsai

Student Wellbeing

Jean is a strong advocate for EDI work. A skilled trauma therapist and dedicated clinical co-coordinator, her work emphasizes community outreach and collaboration to support equity-deserving students. Jean co-chaired the 2SLGBTQ+ and the International Students working groups within Student Wellbeing, with a focus on improving access to timely and culturally appropriate care. In collaboration with the CSDC team, Jean supported the development of specialized care pathways for Black-identified and Indigenous students, increasing access, reducing wait times, and improving care quality. Jean’s leadership, commitment, and service have made a lasting impact on student wellbeing, making her truly deserving of this award.
