Cybersafety for K-12 Youth

With your help, TMU can minimize online threats.

Cybersafe choices can extend beyond our learning and work at the university. For those of us with young people in our lives, there are resources for talking to youth about keeping themselves safe as they interact with technology.

Age-appropriate learning resources

The Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst at TMU has developed educational resources that you may find useful. Topics include:

  • Cyber respect and online kindness
  • A positive digital image
  • Safe communication
  • Privacy online
  • Information verification: Truth online

Developed in collaboration with industry and educational partners, each topic is addressed with age-appropriate guidance and talking points.

Resources for youth affected by online exploitation

If you are under 18 years of age or know someone under 18 who has been impacted by an online exploitation incident, you are not alone and there are people who will help.

The following resources provide guidance to those experiencing online exploitation and the people supporting them.

NeedHelpNow.ca (external link)  helps teens stop the spread of sexual pictures or videos and provides support along the way. Find help on what you can do or how you can support someone.

Cybertip.ca (external link)  is operated by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection Inc. and is a national tip-line to report the online sexual exploitation of children.
