CCS supports all Lexmark laser printers. In the following table a selection of recommended printers are provided for comparison. For advice regarding printer selection, contact the CCS Helpdesk with the following information to have an Incident created:
- largest paper size
- highest monthly print run
- colour or B&W
- print only or with scanning
- number of persons printing to the device
Due to the infrastructure and security of the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) network, a wireless printer will not connect to the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) wireless network.
Please note that only Lexmark printers, that are using PCL as the printer language, are supported for OGF printing. Printers that DO NOT SUPPORT OGF printing.
If the majority of your printing will not be colour, then it is highly recommended that a monochrome laser printer also be purchased. This will save money as the cost of colour printing is higher per page, as are the replacement parts.
Also note the use of 3rd party or refilled toners with these printers is not recommended. Any problem caused by their use is not covered by the Manufacturer's warranty and the customer will be charged for the replacement parts. Visit the Lexmark site for information on how to make sure the toner you are buying is Genuine Lexmark.
If you decide to continue using 3rd party or refilled toners in your printer. CCS will charge $75.00 per hour to clean the printer caused by toner spilling into it. This charge will be added to any costs for replacement parts.
Lexmark has monthly specials, for more information contact the CCS Hardware support line (x554544) or contact Toronto Metropolitan University Purchasing department.
