University renaming and your website content in AEM
We would like to provide an update regarding the upcoming renaming of the university and how this will impact your website content in Adobe AEM.
The following is a list of renaming topics we want to communicate to you at this time:
- Branded terms in AEM
- Author find and replace tool
- Submit unique branded terms
- Not in scope for tool
- What to expect next
1. The Digital Publishing team developed an initial list of branded terms, acronyms, abbreviations and initialisms. These terms were searched in AEM to determine the scope for potential replacements. To give you an idea of some results, the term “Ryerson” appears in page content over 146,000 times. Ryerson University appears in more than 23,500 instances of “Ryerson University”.
The results of this discovery work led us to the conclusion that a find and replace tool would be necessary for the majority of these changes. A tool for AEM authors is currently being designed and developed by our team to help you avoid manual replacements. This tool should be available for author use by the end of May 2022. More details on the tool will be available in a future communication.
2. Submit your branded terms, abbreviations, acronyms and initialisms
We will be adding common branded terms directly into the tool; however, your department may use branded terminology that is unique to your content, and perhaps used on sites other than your own.
The updated list of branded terms for page content includes the following:

3. Submit branded terms that might need replacing in your content, as well as other sites
If you have branded keywords, acronyms, etc. that you would like to include in the tool please email me at khewak@torontomu.ca.
4. Not in Scope for the Author Tool
It is not possible to find and replace content contained in an uploaded file in AEM’s Digital Asset Manager. For example, content in PDFs, MS Word, Excel, PPT, etc. cannot be searched and replaced within the AEM system.
5. What to expect next
Digital Publishing will be sending more frequent updates over the next several months relating to the renaming process. Our goal is to keep you informed about AEM activities, tools, training and timelines that may affect AEM content and its users.
You will receive another email within the next two weeks. In that email we will provide more information on the following:
- Recommendations for preparing your content ahead of the renaming
- Requesting AEM author reports for keywords in your websites
- Absolute links that need to be changed to relative paths before the domain name change (Date TBD)
- Assistance to high-risk content owners
- Find and replace tool overview
Again, please feel free to send your branded terms to khewak@torontomu.ca
