Upcoming changes to the university WiFi network and VPN
To: All students, faculty and staff
Following the university’s recent name change, CCS will be changing the names of the university’s wireless network and faculty and staff GlobalProtect Virtual Private Network (VPN) software agent.
TMU’s wireless network name will be changing
Over the coming weeks, CCS will be preparing to change the name of the university’s wireless network name from “RU-Secure” to “TMU”. The migration to the new TMU WiFi network will roll out across campus by Sunday, July 31. The RU-Secure WiFi network will remain temporarily available until Friday, September 30.
Following July 31, users are advised to switch their existing WiFi connection to the TMU network to avoid any connectivity interruptions after September 30.
How to connect to the TMU wireless network
To connect to the new TMU WiFi network after July 31, please follow the instructions available on the how to connect to the TMU wireless network page on our website.
The faculty and staff VPN is being renamed
Effective immediately, the GlobalProtect VPN used by university faculty and staff will be renamed from “RU-VPN2” to “TMU-VPN”. This change will happen automatically and no action is required on your part to facilitate this change.
No changes will be made to the student Virtual Private Network, “Student VPN.”
