Keeping your TMU Microsoft data? Start migrating now

June 20, 2024

To: All students

As a follow-up to an April 11, 2024 email to TMU students, we are sharing resources to guide you through the process of:

  • setting up your Microsoft multi-factor authentication (MFA) credentials; and
  • migrating your existing Microsoft cloud data to TMU’s new Microsoft cloud environment.

The new TMU Microsoft cloud environment is now available, and you will have until September 18, 2024 to move files from the existing @ryerson.ca environment account to the new @torontomu.ca environment.

Why do you need to migrate data?

As TMU is transitioning from its existing “Ryerson” Microsoft cloud environment to a new TMU environment, any Microsoft data you wish to keep will need to be moved to the new environment.

Do you really need to migrate data?

If you intend to keep any files you’ve stored in Microsoft products such as Office 365, OneDrive, SharePoint or Teams, you will need to migrate your data. Once the migration period ends, you may lose access to files and information that have not been moved over.

If you do not plan on keeping your Microsoft data or continuing to use Microsoft products for your coursework after August 2024, there will be no action required on your part.

How to migrate your files and set up Microsoft MFA

To help you migrate your files to the new TMU Microsoft environment, please refer to the how-to guides for students.

Once your data is migrated, please begin using your TMU Microsoft account with your torontomu.ca credentials to ensure any new documents or changes are retained.
