The Ted Rogers Case Team (TRCT) from the Ted Rogers School of Management continued its national winning tradition with a first place victory at ACHIEVE 2026, the accounting case competition held as part of the ACHIEVE National Conference.

The ACHIEVE conference is an annual event hosted by Toronto Met Accounting, a student-run accounting society at the Ted Rogers School. Now in its 18th year, the conference is designed to further the personal and professional development of accounting students, and features networking opportunities, interactive workshops and inspiring keynotes. This year’s conference took place January 9-10, 2026.

As part of the conference, the ACHIEVE Case Competition focuses on current trends and challenges that influence and are reflected within the accounting industry. This year, teams were tasked with analyzing a senior-level accounting case themed “Uncovering Tax Fraud” under an intense timeline — delivering a full case cut in one hour and presenting to a panel of industry professionals from EY, KPMG, Deloitte and Richter.

Ted Rogers School students Elling Lin, Suchee Mayadunne, Ali Salman and Erin Doan represented Toronto Metropolitan University at the competition and finished in first place. This win marks TRCT’s second consecutive ACHIEVE title since the team’s inception in 2024, and extends an incredible streak — five straight ACHIEVE victories for Ted Rogers School teams, continuing a standard of excellence established by TRCT’s early leaders. In addition to the team victory, Salman and Doan won the Best Speaker Award.

TRCT’s success also reflects the strength of the program’s mentorship pipeline. Today’s competitors build on the foundation created by the team’s co-founders and former co-captains Dennis Chen and Vansh Saini, who helped establish Ted Rogers School’s presence at ACHIEVE through years of competition experience and leadership.

ACHIEVE 2026 featured strong national representation, including competitors from the University of Calgary and Bishop’s University (Quebec), making the team’s first-place finish an especially meaningful accomplishment for the Ted Rogers School and the broader TRCT community.
