Fall 2026 Invitation: Make movement a habit this school year

There’s nothing quite like the buzz of campus when students are back and the year ahead is full of possibilities.

Whether you’re new to TMU, new to sport and recreation, or already have your active wellbeing routine figured out, there’s a place for you here.

Small moments, big difference

Getting active can make a real difference in how you feel and move through your days - from your mood, energy and sleep to your academic focus, memory and creativity. But recreation is about more than the physical benefits. It’s also a chance to meet people, find your community and feel a little more at home on campus.

And there’s no right way to do it.

Maybe it’s a weekly pickleball game with a friend (or someone new you meet!), a couple of swims or group fitness classes between your classes each week, an everyday gym-sesh, or a once-a-week intramural game. Find what feels good, and make it yours.

Our invitation and challenge to you this fall: whatever you choose, do your best to make it as much of a habit as you can. Now and future-you will thank you (external link)  for stacking your days. At the same time, keep your head-up when you miss a day or week. That's life, and every day is a fresh start.

No pressure. No experience or perfect routine required.

Start wherever you are...and just move.

New to TMU Recreation?

If you're a first-year student or haven't used the facilities before, TMU's Recreation 101 guide is a good place to start.

It breaks down the difference between drop-in recreation, intramurals, recreational clubs, group fitness and Learn To programs, making it easier to figure out which option suits you.
