Group Fitness Schedule

Did you know physical movement improves your memory, attention, concentration and problem solving? Elevate your academic game and go from ordinary to extraordinary grades with GROUP FITNESS classes!

The Group Fitness Program offers a range of engaging classes tailored to different fitness levels, designed to promote physical and mental well-being while fostering a sense of community. Our program includes cardio, strength training, and flexibility exercise classes in the form of Kickboxing, Yoga, Dance classes and more! This diversity helps you discover the type of workout that resonates best with your preferences and goals.  All 30 classes are drop-in style (ie. NO registration required), FREE and accessible for all TMU students, grad students and members with an active membership.

By joining Group Fitness classes, you’ll join a community of individuals who share your commitment to health, whether a novice or more experienced. The collective energy and support from fellow participants and instructors create a motivating atmosphere. With classes available throughout the day, fitting movement into your busy routine becomes more accessible. Our experienced instructors are dedicated to helping you navigate your fitness journey, ensuring you perform exercises safely and effectively.

Do keep in mind, instructors try their best to offer options and modifications for all skill levels and abilities.

Class Descriptions

Class Description Difficulty
Barre BARRE Fitness is inspired by ballet and uses the ballet barre and some additional equipment. It focuses on full body strengthening and sculpting, with some cardio and pilates-inspired core work, all done to energetic music. There is an emphasis on posture, alignment, coordination, and fun! Difficulty Level: Moderate.  Sweat Level: I'm breaking a sweat!
Bodyweight HIIT A high intensity interval training class designed to be fun and challenging. The focus of this class is to tone your muscles, build flexibility, and improve your cardiovascular fitness using a variety of body weight exercises. All levels welcome. Difficulty Level: Challenging.  Sweat Level: Got my sweat on!
Bootcamp Be ready to work up a sweat in this cardiovascular and muscular fitness focused class.  This class format is set up as a typical bootcamp circuit, using a variety of equipment, plyometric and body weight exercises.  Get strong, improve your cardio fitness, and most importantly, feel great with this challenging full body workout! Cardio Dance Party *powered by Diva Stiva This class has something for everyone in an energy packed workout, so much fun that you’ll actually forget you’re working out! Difficulty Level: Moderate.  Sweat Level: I'm breaking a sweat!
Dance Buffet Like to shake things up, literally & figuratively, by trying numerous dance styles? Then this dance buffet is for you! Featuring different instructors who bring their unique talents & dance styles to you week and week! From Bhangra & Bollywood to Latin & Afrobeats, from House & Hip Hop to Reggaeton & Zumba. This class will give you variety while never sacrificing your workout or your experience!! Difficulty Level: Moderate.  Sweat Level: I'm breaking a sweat!
danceFIRE This dance fitness workout is intended to keep your body moving while listening to today’s latest music. DanceFIRE infuses bursts of high energy dance moves with resistance training and core conditioning, guaranteed to improve your wellbeing and put a smile on your face as you jam to some of your favourite beats! Difficulty Level: Moderate.  Sweat Level: I'm breaking a sweat!
Dance Fusion Join us for a fun and exciting exploration of world rhythms as we dance to various beats, break a sweat, tone and gain endurance. This class is designed with a mix of low and high impact movements, but mostly focuses on lighter exercises. Difficulty Level: Moderate.  Sweat Level: I'm breaking a sweat!
Dance Mix Drawing from a range of dance styles, this is an upbeat introduction to various steps and movements. Follow along, connect with your body, and explore how styles evolve as we work up a sweat together. Open to all levels, class includes warm up, stretching, isolations, individual steps, and a combo. Hip Hop Bring your best moves for this high energy dance-fitness class highlighting Hip Hop and Funk styles taught to a compilation of popular Hip Hop and R&B music. Come learn some dance steps and find your style! Difficulty Level: Moderate.  Sweat Level: I'm breaking a sweat!
Jazz Funk Jazz Funk is an intricate and up beat dance form inspired by jazz foundations and influenced by Hip Hop styles. This class combines technique training with fun choreography through slow and fast movements. This unique style provides a powerful energy and environment for all. Difficulty Level: Challenging. Kick n' Sculpt Get your body moving in this exciting class that mixes kickboxing moves with exercises that help shape your muscles. Prepare to sweat, get stronger, and improve your heart health in a fun and energetic setting. No experience needed – just come ready to kick, punch, and feel the burn! Difficulty Level: Moderate.  Sweat Level: I'm breaking a sweat!
KPOP + More Dance Party Dance to trending music from KPOP and other genres in this lively class. Learn cool dance steps, follow the beat, and have a blast at a dance party that's full of energy and fun. Whether you're an experienced dancer or have zero experience, everyone is welcome to join in the dance and groove together. Difficulty Level: Moderate.  Sweat Level: I'm breaking a sweat!
Pilates Pilates is a full body workout focused on developing a strong core, or “powerhouse” which includes the abdominal muscles, back muscles, pelvic floor, glutes and hips. All of which improve posture, coordination, and balance. Pilates matwork is great for anyone, any age, and any fitness level. Difficulty Level: Slightly Challenging.  Sweat Level: Definitely Getting Warm.
Reality Kickboxing Jab, cross, uppercut, hook with various kicks and footwork for an awesome workout in an encouraging environment. Focus mitts & shields will be used to give you a reality based kickboxing experience but always with a heavy dose of fun. Get your defense on! (Personal boxing gloves & wraps are optional but recommended.) Difficulty Level: Moderate.  Sweat Level: I'm breaking a sweat!
Spin Want to take your cardio up a notch? Join our full 45 min spin class and get your heart pumping! Difficulty Level: Very Challenging.  Sweat Level: I'm drenched!
Spin + Sculpt Spend approximately 20-25 minutes on the bike taking on any terrain… track, road, mountain, hills, flats, mixed in with some exciting drills… intervals, speedwork, cadence work, and isolated leg training, both on and off the saddle.  Then spend 15-20 minutes sculpting your body with weights.  End with a short stretch.  A perfect class fitting in all fitness components into a single jam packed workout! Difficulty Level: Challenging.  Sweat Level: Got my sweat on!
Spin + Core + Stretch Take care of your body head to toe with 25-30 minutes of cycling, 5-10 min of core work to help with posture and a 10-15 minute full body stretch! Difficulty Level: Moderate.  Sweat Level: I'm breaking a sweat!
Strength Yoga Do yoga that helps you build strength and stay flexible at the same time. Try different poses that focus on making your muscles strong while also enjoying the calming aspects of yoga. This class is perfect for anyone who wants to blend the benefits of yoga with a touch of strength training. Difficulty Level: Challenging.  Sweat Level: Got my sweat on!
Stretch + Flex This class works as a form of active meditation where you can focus on your body and your breath, as we stretch everything from the head to the toes. Stretching builds both strength and flexibility, helping our bodies to stay healthy. Difficulty Level: Easy, Sweat Level: Warming Up A Little.
Totatl Muscle Conditioning Work on toning your muscles from head to toe in this complete muscle workout. Use weights and simple exercises to make your muscles stronger and give your body a great all-around workout. It's a fantastic way to build a strong foundation for your fitness journey, and you'll leave feeling empowered and accomplished. Let’s get strong together! Difficulty Level: Moderate.  Sweat Level: I'm breaking a sweat!
Ultimate Bootcamp A super charged fun full body workout! Combine both traditional and non-traditional exercises to give the best of both cardiovascular and strength training all in one workout! The circuit style alternates between high and low intensity exercises through timed intervals of free weights, plyometerics, cardio training & balance work.  BONUS: we'll use the equipment found in our very own FUNCTIONAL TRAINING ROOM! Difficulty Level: Challenging.  Sweat Level: Got my sweat on!
Yin Yoga + Meditation A slow-paced, passive type of yoga that incorporates long holds and deep breaths for a stretch that gets deep into the muscles. During these prolonged periods of stillness, residual tension and stress melts away. Yin Yoga is an excellent practice for beginners by eliminating tricky transitions between poses. Those recovering from an injury or looking to lengthen versus strengthen will feel right at home in a Yin yoga class. Difficulty Level: Easy, Sweat Level: Warming Up A Little.
Yoga A traditional style that uses classical yoga postures and stretches with a focus on alignment and breath to develop flexibility and relaxation at a comfortable pace. Difficulty Level: Slightly Challenging.  Sweat Level: Definitely Getting Warm.
Yoga Flow Yoga Flow emphasizes the sequential movement between postures, coordinated with and guided by the power of breath. The pace can vary in this style of yoga but it is often faster with sound progression from basic to complex, but is also incredibly adaptable for all levels. Difficulty Level: Moderate. Zumba A dance fitness class that is based on Latin dances and international music - salsa, merengue, rumba, reggaeton, soca and so much more!  An ultra fun  body. With a strong emphasis on posture and alignment, improving balance, grace and coordination.& exciting way to move your body while getting all the physical & mental health benefits. Difficulty Level: Challenging.  Sweat Level: Got my sweat on!
