Policy reviews
The Diversity Institute reviews existing policies and legislative requirements to develop policies that address the needs of an organization while ensuring alignment with broader frameworks and legislative needs. This includes using standard and/or customized versions of the DAT to understand missing policy components and leveraging our network of staff and partners with legal expertise to ensure policies align with legislation.
We reviewed, edited and drafted policies, procedures and guidelines on Employment Equity, Administrative Employee Searches and Appointments, Job Accommodations for Employees, and Accessibility to better align with its EDI priorities, existing legislation and employee needs. We engaged with KPU staff to understand needs and coupled this with a review of existing legislation to provide KPU with forward-looking, legally compliant policies.
We developed a comprehensive EDI strategy leveraging a thorough analysis of internal documents, ecosystem best practices, staff barriers and recommendations, and community barriers and recommendations. In particular, we reviewed existing internal policies to identify opportunities for embedding principles of EDI within them.
We conducted an assessment using the Diversity Assessment Tool (DAT) App to understand processes for diversity within expert panels and CCA broadly. The assessment included a thorough policy review to understand Expert Panel recruitment and selection processes, as well as other policies that govern CCA’s processes. We offered policy revisions and process changes.
