MHA(CC) graduates are making a difference in the community
With the increasing importance of community care across healthcare systems, the Master of Health Administration (Community Care) program at the Ted Rogers School of Management addresses the critical need for leaders who know how to negotiate and manage care delivery across networks of provider organizations to a range of clients and families.
The program, which launched in Fall 2018, is the first of its kind in Canada, is producing graduates who are making a difference in our community. Here is what a few of them are doing now:
Ashley Kim (2020) is the Program Manager of Your Health Space at Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Ontario. Her team supports the psychological health and safety of healthcare organizations across the province. Kim was instrumental in securing provincial funding for a workplace mental health program aiming to support the healthcare workforce of Ontario.
In her role, she is involved in the procurement of vendors, overseeing program evaluation and the e-learning platform and coordinating regular reports to the Ministry of Health, Ontario Health and other key stakeholders. Kim’s experience as an RN and understanding of systemic stressors in the healthcare system allows her to be a strategic, caring advocate for the well-being of Ontario’s healthcare workers and their organizations.
Olya Vovnysh (2021) is the Chief Executive Officer of Ivan Franko Homes. As CEO, she oversees the operations of Ivan Franko Long-Term Care Home located in Toronto and the operations of the Ivan Franko Seniors Residents in Mississauga. Vovnysh is responsible for all aspects of their management and the welfare of their residents and staff, as well as the implementation of Ivan Franko Homes’ long-term vision.
Currently, she is involved in designing and developing a Campus of Care facility. The facility aims to provide long-term care, assisted living, independent living apartments and senior day programs while maintaining the necessary services to maintain every resident’s choice of high-quality, personalized care in a home-like setting.
Alanna Scott (2022) is the Chief Development and Marketing Officer of Casey House Foundation. Casey House is a specialty hospital in Toronto providing care for people living with and at risk of HIV. Scott is responsible for raising revenue for the organization, as well as hospital and foundation marketing and communications. The Casey House Foundation administers an $8 million endowment.
Cathy Slevin (2022) is the Director of Regional Programs at Lakeridge Health. Her work involves leadership, oversight and strategic direction for various local, regional and provincial priorities including those of Lakeridge Health, the Central East Regional Cancer Program and the Durham Ontario Health Team (OHT). Working with health system partners from the acute, primary care and community sector, Slevin’s role is to ensure that the priorities of Ontario's cancer system are met. In addition, she ensures that her leadership initiatives contribute to Durham OHT's vision of advancing an integrated care system.
