Ted Rogers Undergraduate Sales Team rounds out another successful year
The Ted Rogers Undergraduate Sales Team (TRUST) sealed the deal on a successful semester with a big win at the National Sales Challenge in William Paterson University of New Jersey.
Ted Rogers School of Management students Jackson Scarfe and Daniel Obaji competed at the virtual event, with Scarfe being named the Sales Challenge Champion for finishing first overall. He came in first in the Speed Selling challenge and second in the Role Play competition. The event, which took place November 17-19, 2021, featured 28 of the best competitors across the U.S. and Canada.
The TRUST team is part of the Ted Rogers Sales Leadership Program at the Ted Rogers School, which provides specialized experiential learning opportunities for emerging sales leaders aimed at developing professional sales skills. This was just one of several sales competitions the team competed in this Fall with successful results.
“We are so proud of our TRUST team for representing Ted Rogers School and Canada so well!” says Dr. Karen Peesker, Director of the Ted Rogers Sales Leadership Program.
“Our students are deeply engaged in preparing for the sales competitions throughout the academic term. The time commitment to research, practice role plays, prepare the business case and coach and compete in the competitions is considerable, however the experience and skill development is priceless," she explains.
Fall competition round-up
In the second week of November, the TRUST team participated in Florida State University’s International Collegiate Sales Competition (ICSC) competition, finishing seventh in the Role Play competition out of 80 top universities. Nikola Terzic and Sarah Jalal both advanced to the third round of the competition (semi-finals). Only six of the universities that competed had both of their students move on to the semi-finals. Terzic placed seventh overall in the Speed Sell competition out of 160 students.
Earlier this month, the team also competed in the NorthEast Intercollegiate Sales Competition (NISC) at Bryant University, achieving First Runner Up University Overall out of 23 top sales universities. The team, which was the only one from a Canadian university taking part in the event, was made up of Terzic, Leora Haslett, Adam Lee Him, Nesma Elkady, Harnoor Khattar, Resky Tenorio and Luke Buckberrough.
Ted Rogers School students participated in two categories, Role Play and Speed Sell, against 156 students. In the Role Play competition, five of our students moved on to the top 40 semi-finals (the team’s best achievement yet), and Terzic advanced to the finals, placing second overall. Lee Him, meanwhile, finished fourth overall in the Speed Sell competition.
At the RNMKRS event, meanwhile, Obaji and Allexis Ferrer placed in the top 5% of the 3,500+ students competing in the international virtual AI RNMKRS Speed Sell competition.
“I would like to thank all the faculty teaching sales, our leadership team, industry sponsors and sales student mentors who have helped provide these opportunities for success through your exceptional teaching and support,” says Dr. Peesker. “You are making such a positive impact for our students and our university.”
