Congratulations to members of DECA Ryerson for their successful performances at DECA’s annual International Career Development Conference (ICDC).

DECA is an international student network focused on instilling professionalism in young people and preparing them for the challenges of business. DECA Ryerson is an award-winning chapter of students who strive to reach the height of academic, social and professional success.

This year’s DECA ICDC, which had the theme of “The Next Level,” took place virtually from April 13 to April 22, 2021 and had over 1,000 attendees from around the world. It consisted primarily of two rounds of case competitions, as well as workshops, networking and unique competitive challenges.

DECA Ryerson had 34 students competing at this year’s conference (30 from the Ted Rogers School of Management), which is the most our school has ever had participating.

Sarah Jalal placed twice at the event, finishing first in both her case competition and in the Sales Challenge, which was open to all competitors. This February, Jalal won the Best New Member award at the DECA U Canada national conference, and she will be taking over as DECA Ryerson’s President next year.

In addition, seven DECA Ryerson students placed in the top three in their respective categories and will receive glass plaques, and 25 students were finalists (making the top 12) and will receive medals. DECA Ryerson was also recognized at the event as the second largest collegiate level DECA Chapter in the world. The group recently won the Chapter of the Year award at the DECA U Canada event.
