Ted Rogers Undergraduate Sales Team successful at US sales competition
Congratulations to the Ted Rogers Undergraduate Sales Team (TRUST) for their successful showing at this year’s Northeast Intercollegiate Sales Competition (NISC).
The ten-person team competed against students from top sales universities in the United States to finish fourth overall (3rd runner-up university). In addition, Eric Muellejans was crowned champion of the Speed Selling competition (he was also a finalist in Spanish Speed Selling), while Sarah Jalal placed third in the event and Marco Lau was a finalist.
TRUST team members Katrina Litz, Mostafa Abdel Hadi, Jackson Scarfe and Eric Muellejans also achieved best in their rooms, enabling them to move on to the semi-finals. This represents Ryerson’s largest showing ever in the second round, and a significant achievement since only 40 competitors out of all students advance to the semi-finals.
Other members of the TRUST group whose strong performance enabled the team award included Elie Farah-Mina, Anuj Agarwal, Jason Sivakumar and Rosemarie Burdeos. The TRUST team captain, Camilla Racco, and Sales Leadership Program Coordinator, Sheniese Van Heer, also did an impressive job helping Dr. Peesker prepare the team for the event.
“What I am most excited about this year is that we improved as a team,” says Dr. Karen Peesker, Director of the Ted Rogers Sales Leadership Program. “In the past, we only had two students move on to round two. This year, we doubled that success!”
“We grew the team, bringing in development players and giving more students a chance to compete and learn,” explains Dr. Peesker. “Everyone was there to support each other and work collaboratively to achieve success for Ryerson. We are also grateful to our TRUST team sponsor DHL for their support and encouragement.”
This year’s NISC, which took place in a virtual format November 5-7, 2020, featured 260 students, faculty and sponsors representing 24 top sales universities and 12 companies.
