Congratulations to the team of Ted Rogers MBA students who came in third overall at this year’s MBA Games.

The 32nd annual MBA Games, hosted by McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business from January 3 to 5, 2020, featured 17 teams from across Canada competing in four sports challenges, four case competitions and numerous team spirit events.

The Ted Rogers MBA team, made up of 39 students, finished first in sports, placing #1 in co-ed basketball for the second straight year and coming in #2 in both volleyball and e-sports (NHL hockey).  The team also finished second in the spirit category, which included raising the most money ($16,000) for the Games’ selected charity, Empowerment Squared.  The team reached the finals in the strategy case competition as well.

“This is a truly remarkable accomplishment given that we are a relatively small one-year MBA program,” says Dr. Dale Carl, TRSM’s Director of Graduate Students. “I would like to thank all of the faculty who contributed to building the students’ knowledge base and have emphasized the importance of collaboration.”

“One of the remarkable parts of our program is that we have so many part-time students participating on our sports, case and spirit teams. Some schools only allow full-time students to take part,” adds Dr. Carl.  “We believe that the skills and knowledge gained through the MBA Games is vital to all students, and networking among our students is one of our advantages.”

Overall, DeGroote was crowned champions of the 2020 MBA Games and Schulich (York University) came in second.
