Dr. Cheri Bradish wins Academic Achievement in Sport and Entertainment Award
Dr. Cheri Bradish, Ted Rogers Director of Sport Business Initiatives at the Ted Rogers School of Management (TRSM), is the first Canadian to win the Academic Achievement in Sport and Entertainment Award at the annual Sport, Entertainment, and Venues Tomorrow (SEVT) Conference.
The award recognizes a scholar whose research and/or teaching has made a significant positive impact in the fields of sport, entertainment or venue management. The recipient’s analysis of trends and industry research has led to meaningful dialogue between academicians and industry professionals.
Dr. Bradish is the Founder and Managing Director of the Future of Sport Lab (external link) – a pioneer in North American sport business education as a collaborative lab and incubator for sport innovation and research in partnership with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE). She came to Ryerson in 2013 as the Loretta Rogers Research Chair in Sport Marketing at TRSM after spending 16 years at Brock University, where she was the Founding Professor of their Sport Management program.
As a sport marketing expert, Dr. Bradish’s research interests include sport business innovation strategy and trends, women in sport leadership and the management of sport and social impact. Her research has appeared in leading journals including: the Journal of Sport Management, the International Journal of Sport Management and Marketing, the Sport Management Review and Sport Marketing Quarterly.
In addition to her research, Dr. Bradish has been instrumental in advancing sport business education at TRSM. She is the Academic Lead for the school’s new sport business-focused MBA, which gives students deeper insight into sport marketing, strategy, media and analytics, and better equips them with point of difference industry skills for the future.
The Academic Achievement in Sport and Entertainment Award was presented to Dr. Bradish at the 2019 SEVT Conference at the University of South Carolina on November 21, 2019.
