Congratulations to TRSM Marketing Management student Frank Liu for being part of the winning team that received the Amazon Web Services Student Award at the 2019 CBC/Radio Canada Hackathon.

The CBC/Radio-Canada’s Hackathon (external link) , held February 1-3, 2019 simultaneously in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and online across the country, featured 16 teams tackling the topic of personalization, exploring new ideas, developing their skills and sharing their talents with Canada’s national public broadcaster.

Liu was part of the five-person Greater Toronto Area team, Crimson Solutions, made up of students from different Ontario universities (Ryerson Engineering student Steven Jung was also a member). The team won the Amazon Web Services Student Award for their weighted keyword analytics system, which could also send data to an employee dashboard to view and analyze trends.  As winners of this award, the team will be participating in a two-day workshop offered by Amazon to continue developing their project while making the best use of their cloud services.

The hackathon was organized by Agorize, an open innovation platform. The company organizes case competitions and hackathons with top companies from around the world to empower students and increase their employability.
