TRSM Students Win Border City Financial Case Competition
Congratulations to TRSM Accounting & Finance students Michael Porretta, Hari Muralidharan, Mrugen Mehta and Hamza Arabi who beat out teams from top Canadian and American universities to claim first place at the Border City Financial Case Competition.
The competition, hosted by University of Windsor’s Odette School of Business from March 23-24th, 2018, consisted of two components. The first part was a stock pitch on a public company in the consumer staples industry. Students were given a week to prepare the pitch and had the opportunity to present it to a panel of industry professionals, including executives in the consumer staples industry.
The second part was a new case that was given to students on the second day of the competition. The case was prepared by the CEO of HighLine Mushrooms and was a Leverage Buy-out case about a mushroom company. Teams were given four hours to create a Leveraged Buy-out, Discounted Cash Flow, Comparables and Precedents.
The TRSM team was selected to present the second case based on their performance in the first round, and after a final deliberation round, they placed first, taking home a prize of $3,000.
