Ryerson University's hospitality and tourism management program first in Canada to be accredited by Tourism HR Canada
Ryerson University’s Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management is the first university-level program in Canada to be accredited by Tourism HR Canada (external link) .
“We are honoured and proud to be the first university program in Canada to receive the SMART + Premium accreditation from Tourism HR Canada,” says Frederic Dimanche, director of the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (TRHTM). “This accreditation re-affirms our school’s commitment to providing the education and experience to empower our students to be nimble and agile business leaders in today’s fast-paced tourism economy.”
The SMART Accreditation Program provides post-secondary institutions an opportunity to demonstrate that their program meets or exceeds industry standards. It also provides benchmarks that tourism educators can use to improve their programs. TRHTM is one of four post-secondary institutions (external link) to receive the SMART + Premium accreditation by Tourism HR Canada.

Ted Rogers School of Management’s hospitality and tourism management program is well established and has deep roots. Launched in the early 1950s as Canada’s first hospitality program, the school is now home to nearly 1,000 students, more than 4,500 distinguished alumni and some 20 industry-connected faculty and instructors. Notable graduates include Robin McLuskie, vice president of Colliers International Hotels, Vito Curalli, executive director of sales for Hilton Hotels and Bill Stone, executive vice president of CBRE Hotels. The program offers students management skills, experiential learning opportunities, co-op opportunities, case competitions and practical hands-on experience to propel them to become leaders in the hospitality and tourism industries.
