TRSM Team in Local Finals of CFA Institute Research Challenge

A team of Ted Rogers School of Management Finance students has been selected to participate in the local finals of the 8th annual CFA Institute Research Challenge (external link) , a global equity research competition featuring teams from elite business and finance programs around the world.

Finance students Dorian Cziriak, Brandon Eng, Adam Hamade, George Tasevski and Wei Sun will represent TRSM against teams from Queen’s University’s Smith School of Business, the University of Toronto Mississauga’s Institute for Management and Innovation, and the University of Waterloo’s School of Accounting and Finance.

The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. The regional and global competitions are hosted by CFA Institute, with the winning team from each local competition advancing to one of three regional competitions: in the Americas; the Asia Pacific; and the Europe, Middle East, and Africa regions. The winners from each regional competition advance to the Global Final, where one team will emerge as the global champion of the CFA Institute Research Challenge.

The local final will be held at the TMX Broadcast Centre (external link) , in the heart of Toronto’s financial district, on Thursday, February 23^rd. The TRSM team will give a 10-minute presentation to a panel of well-known industry experts on their research and analysis of leading Canadian ecommerce company Shopify. The winning team will receive a $1,000 cash prize for each winning team member and an all-expenses paid trip for the team to take part in the Americas Regional Finals.
