Future of pension planning, funding in Canada: experts to speak at TRSM

Is Canada ready to meet the needs of its aging population? Pension experts – unions, government, pension boards and health care – will examine what the future holds in pension planning for all Canadians on Friday, Nov. 20 at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University (TRSM).

The conference, Pensions 2035: Envisioning the Future of Pensions, has been organized by two research centres at TRSM: the Pension Innovation and Research Centre and the Centre for Labour Management Relations.

Panel highlights include:

  • Youth perspectives: future of pensions | 10 to 10:45 a.m.
    • Students to discuss future of pensions from their perspective
    • Moderator: Mitch Frazer, partner and chair, Pensions & Employment Practice, Torys LLP

  • Keynote: How ready is Canada to meet the needs of its aging population | 12:15 to 1:30 p.m.
    • oSpeaker: Dr. Samir Sinha, director, geriatrics, Mount Sinai & UHN hospitals

  • Update on the Ontario Registered Pension Plan | 2:45 to 3:30 p.m.
    • Speaker: Mahmood Nanji, Assistant Deputy Minister, ORPP Secretariat
