Journalism graduates who walked across the stage for convocation last week are the first to pick up degrees from ‘Toronto Metropolitan University’.

Congratulations to the Journalism at the Creative School class of 2023! Both masters and bachelor journalism graduated on June 16 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre (the former Maple Leaf Gardens).

“After four years of hard work and long nights it feels great to be at this point and to be here with my friends,” said Edward Djan, a new Bachelor of Journalism graduate.

This year's convocation was extra special as students are the first official TMU alumni.

“It feels fantastic,” said Aloysius Wong, MJ ‘23.  “Being able to get this far and see my friends and professors is more than I could have imagined!”

“I feel relieved and excited to be here. I am glad we all made it!” said one of his classmates,  Rachel DeGasperis, MJ’23.

J-School staff and faculty joined the convocation to celebrate their students' achievements.

“We are honored students chose to spend this important part of their life with us and we wish them well as they look to their families, friends and communities with a well earned feeling of pride,” said Ravindra Mohabeer, chair of the School of Journalism.
