Anti-Discrimination, Advocacy & Cultural Inclusivity

This is a list of resources and supports for Ted Rogers' diverse student population. The Ted Rogers School of Management recognizes the ongoing need for creating a campus culture that is respectful and focused on ensuring human rights and dignity for all. In the event that a Ted Rogers School student is suffering discrimination, injustice or any type of negativity impacting their experience, students may leverage the resources below. It is the diversity of our population at the Ted Rogers School that strengthens our school and it is important that all feel supported, seen and heard. Please let us know if there are additional resources you would like to see on this page.

The CSDC offers free, confidential counselling services in a professional and friendly environment. While our services are predominantly short term in nature, the duration of counselling is determined on a case by case basis depending on need and resources availability. Services are provided by our team of psychologists, social workers, psychotherapists and counselling interns.

The Black Community page on the Diversity Portal lists organizations providing a variety of services available to the Black community in the GTA, including the name of the organization, career, mentorship services and research reports and projects, and more.

Black Student Experience promotes a strong sense of community among Black-Identified students at the university and also committed to providing a safe space for these students on and off campus.

The Cultural Awareness Committee works with members of the Toronto Metropolitan University community to increase self-empowerment for groups at the university to feel safe and welcomed on campus.

The Black History Awareness Committee is a team of students, staff and faculty committed to celebrating Black history every day of the year by promoting and assisting student initiatives focused on educating about racialized history.

The Centre for Women and Trans People looks to tackle issues like racism, gender empowerment & violence, reproductive freedom. They provide advocacy, resources, events and discussion groups.

Queer Space (formerly RyePride) is the group that represents queer and trans voices for students on campus. They also provide advocacy, support and events. Many of their events are also for like-minded queer students and allies.

BIPOC Students’ Collective (formerly The Racialized Students Collective) also holds events for the community and racialized students. They work with Toronto Metropolitan University to eliminate racism and xenophobia. They look to do this through education, campaigns, and advocacy initiatives.

The Trans Collective is focused on challenging transphobia, cissexism, transmisogyny, and binarism at Toronto Metropolitan University. They offer education, advocacy and support on campus for Trans identifying students.

The Indigenous Education Council is committed to developing a new relation of truth and reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples at Toronto Metropolitan University and in the community at large.

The December 6th Memorial Committee is dedicated to the active promotion of equality and the elimination of violence in all its forms. The committee host events to engage our community in discussions related to violence against women.

Academic Accommodation Support provides confidential services to students who live with disabilities that affect their studies.

The Office of the Ombudsperson is a place for students to raise concerns which they have been unable to resolve themselves. Students can bring forward their concerns in confidence to the Ombudsperson’s office with the knowledge that they will not be disclosed, unless the student provides permission for this to happen. The Ombudsperson’s Office is independent of the university, all administrative structures and the student government.

RyeSERT is a volunteer-based student group that provides on-site medical coverage at Toronto Metropolitan University events and in all university residences. We are students with backgrounds as firefighters, paramedics, first responders, lifeguards and those just interested in serving the Toronto Metropolitan community with a genuine desire to help others.

From Student Life and Learning Support website: "We teach essential academic skills and study techniques to support students with expressing their intelligence, applying their knowledge, and communicating their ideas. Programs including Orientation, Leadership Development, International Student Support, and Tri-Mentoring connect students to resources, staff, and peers, assisting with their transition in and through Toronto Metropolitan University."

The Walk Safe Programs service provides Toronto Metropolitan University's community with a protected escort by security officers or supervisors 24 hours a day to any location on the Toronto Metropolitan campus, to the Dundas subway or to nearby parking lots off campus.
