Renaming the Ryerson Review of Journalism and the Ryersonian

July 14, 2021

The Renaming Committee established to reconsider the names of the two publications run by the School of Journalism recommended, in May, the names of both the Ryersonian and the Ryerson Review of Journalism should be changed. School Council approved.

We are excited to move forward with this process recognizing that a name change is just one part of our commitment to reconciliation.

Our media criticism publication, which was temporarily published under the [       ] Review of Journalism following an editorial decision by the 2020-21 masthead, will now be known as the Review of Journalism.

We are now seeking a new name for the Ryersonian, and are reaching out to our community of students, staff, faculty and alumni to participate in the renaming.

The Ryersonian is 70+ years old and has traditionally covered campus news, as well as news relevant to the city’s many downtown communities.

Do you have a suggestion for a new name? We invite you to share your ideas with us by filling our  (google form) Renaming Form (external link) . Entries are open until Saturday, July 17 at 5 p.m.
