Equity & Community Inclusion Pledge
The Equity and Community Inclusion pledge is a promise that we call on every member of the TMU community to take. It is based on the premise that each individual has a choice to create and foster a campus environment in which everyone is included.
The idea behind the pledge is to bring people together to affirm that we each play a role in making inclusion a reality across campus. It also reinforces that along with respect for individual differences, the values of cooperation, intentionality and shared responsibility are critical to making inclusion happen.
The pledge means that you agree to…
Treat all people with dignity and respect.
Speak up against prejudice in all its forms and strive for mutual respect and understanding.
Be a leader and act to improve the lives of those around me locally, nationally, and globally.
Value the richness that diversity brings to the human experience.
Honour the spirit of Canada’s first peoples by recognizing that TMU is in the Dish with One Spoon Territory, a treaty between the Anishinaabe, Mississaugas and Haudenosaunee that bound them to share the territory and protect the land.
Through these actions, I will uphold my commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
