Call for Presentations
The Indigenous Student Showcase is a platform for undergraduate and graduate Indigenous students at Toronto Metropolitan University to define their success and present their accomplishments to the broader community.
Indigenous students at the university are involved in various scholarly, research and creative activities. Through this event, we want to highlight your achievements, creativity, and innovation. We encourage you to define your success and register to present your project at the event.
Selected presenters will receive the Defining Your Success – Award for Creative Excellence and a honorarium.
Date: Wednesday, April 15, 2026
Time: 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Location: POD250
How to Apply
Submit your presentation proposal using the (google form) submission link (external link) . Examples of projects include but are not limited to:
- Mentoring other students – physically, mentally, spiritually and/or emotionally; or exemplifying the 7 Grandmother/Grandfather teachings or teachings from your Nation/community in other ways;
- Demonstrating excellence in leadership at TMU, Toronto’s Indigenous community, or your First Nation community;
- Publishing or in the process of publishing an article/chapter/book/report (inclusive of co-authoring);
- Involvement in research and/or other creative projects such as art, films, photography or poetry, with or without support from a faculty member;
- Contributing to services at TMU and/or Toronto’s Indigenous community, such as committee membership or other volunteer work.
- 1/2 - page summary of work or submission.
This award is sponsored by Elder Joanne Dallaire, Toronto Metropolitan University's first (Ke Shay Hayo) Elder, and Senior Advisor, Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation.
Please submit your proposal by March 10, 2026
This event is hosted in partnership by the Office of Indigenous Initiatives, OVPECI, Gdoo-maawnjidimi Mompii Indigenous Student Services and the Indigenous Education Council.
