International Student Advising

Our team of International Student Advisors are Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors (RISIAs) or Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs) who can help through group immigration advising, drop-in hours, and one-on-one personal development appointments.

Drop-in Hours

Do you have a quick question or are looking for some guidance? Join our drop-in hours to ask to an International Student Advisor your questions! Beginning from the Fall 2023 semester, our drop-in hours are hybrid, meaning you can join us on Zoom on the links below, or in-person at the ISS Office, located at POD 50A.

Please make sure that you are logged into your Zoom (external link)  account in order to access the sessions if you are joining virtually.

Welcome appointments are designed to get to know you and support your transition to Toronto Metropolitan University and Canada. These meetings will provide you with resources to guide you through your time at university and assist you in reaching your personal, academic, and professional goals.

Welcome Appointments will be held online or in-person, in groups of three, and will provide you with resources to guide you through your time at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) and assist you in reaching your personal, academic and professional goals.

Students can book Welcome Appointments by completing the (google form)  Fall 2023 ISS Welcome Appointment Form  (external link) ( (google doc) Welcome Appointment Booking Guideline (external link) ) and telling us about yourself. Action Plan appointments are designed to support international students with Academic, English Language, Financial, Mental Health and Social Transition. The appointments will provide you with a 1:1 session with the International Student Retention Facilitator (ISRF) to connect you with resources and refer you to workshops offered through ISS and campus partners.
