Celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with an engaging student panel discussion from 3 to 4 p.m. Participants will gain insights into the experiences of students with disabilities at TMU and George Brown College (GBC), who will share their post-secondary journeys, challenges and successes.
What to expect
This panel aims to foster understanding, support and advocacy with a focus on the following topics:
- Building community and peer support: Connect with fellow students, share your stories and gain encouragement from those who understand your experiences.
- Developing self-advocacy skills: Learn from others’ successes and discover practical ways to advocate for your needs within GBC.
- Influencing college policies and practices: Bring your ideas on how students with disabilities can participate in shaping a supportive and accessible campus environment.
This event is hosted by the Accessibility unit in the Office of the Vice-President, Equity and Community Inclusion (OVPECI) at TMU in partnership with George Brown College.
All events will be hosted in person on the main floor, South Atrium, George Brown College Waterfront Campus (external link) (51 Dockside Dr.) and online via Zoom, creating a welcoming space for participants to connect and learn.
