Shayla joined the Diversity Institute as a Research Assistant to leverage her background in social policy research, data analysis, and government service delivery. Her work focuses on critical issues like housing affordability, reproductive justice, and social inequality, where she aims to contribute meaningfully to research that promotes more inclusive and equitable policies. Shayla holds a Master of Science in Social Policy from the University of Pennsylvania and an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in Criminology & Sociolegal Studies, Human Geography, and Sociology. Prior to joining DI, she worked at the Mayor’s Office in Philadelphia, gaining valuable experience in public policy and government operations.
